Komatsu KOMTRAX satellite tracking system

We are beginning to introduce our new KOMTRAX tracking system for small and medium size machines in select regions across Europe.

This system is especially useful for service management if you’re located at a remote site where it’s difficult for service personnel to access your machines, and where your machines cannot be seen from your site management office. It’s also useful for monitoring rentals and for recovering stolen machines.

How it works: step-by-step

1. Installed on board your Komatsu machine, the KOMTRAX system collects vital operating and system data. It also maintains communications with a GPS satellite that monitors its location.
2. The KOMTRAX system transmits your machine’s operating and system data, including its location, up to another satellite: an Orbcomm satellite.
3. The Orbcomm satellite transmits all of the data down to a data control centre.
4. From this centre, via the Internet, the data is then sent to our global server, where all data is collected, and analysed.
5. This is then sent to your local Komatsu distributor’s server, or ‘local web system’, where the information is translated to meet your needs and formatted into a web page display.

The data that is reported

• Your machine’s latest location and location history
• Monthly Service Meter Reading (SMR)
• Daily working hours
• Fuel and water levels
• The SMR for the next maintenance and the replacement parts and consumables that will be required
• Cautions, occurrences and system errors.

Availability in supported regions

KOMTRAX services are limited to areas of Europe where an Orbcomm satellite and local server infrastructure is in place to support it. For more information about the KOMTRAX system and its availability, contact your Komatsu dealer.
